Tonight was a friend of mines birthday, and she decided to keep it pretty low key and just do dinner at one of the restaurants downtown. I only really knew the birthday girl, but as it turns out, I had met 3 of her other guests previously (including one randomly on the bus). Gotta love Kingston and Queen's, there's only max 3 degrees separation between everyone.
I got to the restaurant early, and eventually (randomly) met one of the other dinner guests (we'll call him C) at the bar before the birthday girl showed up. We chatted for a while before and during dinner, and about half-way through, he invited me to go play trivia with him and a friend after dinner at the Grad Club. I figured what the hell, I haven't played trivia in a while, why not.
So after saying tootles to the b-day girl, we hoofed it over to the Grad Club and met C's friend, H. But cripes, it was hotter and more humid inside than out! Damn old buildings. We stayed long enough to down a pitcher of water and realize we'd never be able to identify any of the 30-some odd pictures of drummers, and gave it up for a loss. Instead, we fled the Grad Club and hoofed it over to the Brew Pub, an awesome pub located downtown that brew their own beer. Mmm...beer.
The three of us shared a pitcher of my fav before walking back to the Grad Club and H gave us a ride home. Did I mention total strangers before hand? But we're all grad students and kind of geeky, so we got on like a house on fire. :) Especially when I accidentally mentioned a fantasy novel I'd loved in high school. :D House on fire, I tell ya.
But you see, I decided to dress up nicely for the dinner, and wore a new pair of heels (the pair on the left) that, while quite comfortable for short periods, are definitely not meant for walking long distances.
Thus this entire post is about my feet. OWWWWWWW!
That and meeting new people. YAY new people! :D
