It's 4:47 am, and I'm packing my bag to catch the first flight out of here!

This two week rotation both flew by and dragged on forever.  The first few days and the last few days have gone by super quick, especially since I've given myself the task of organizing All Of The Files and Maps.  The middle part dragged on forever due to the Camp Plague.  I'm still coughing, and it's making my voice super raspy.  I called D last night, and he had no idea who I was!  Even Mom was stumped at first when I called home Christmas Eve.  lol

Anywho, I have to run because omg why didn't I pack last night?!

My best friend's husband is in town for his birthday, the airline ticket purchased by a bunch of friends who have missed him.  I thought it was a really sweet gesture, and went to his birthday party last night to see him.  He's a great guy, it was nice to see him again.

On my way there, I stopped to pick up some cookies from the grocery store and saw a guy sitting outside the doors with a sign saying that he's travelling and broke, and anything would be appreciated.
I was going to say that I don't know what struck me about it that I wanted to help, but that would be a lie... )

Have successfully made it to Ottawa in one piece and with all my luggage (always a concern), and am now situated quite comfortably on a (very cozy homg I need to steal this thing) futon in my buddies basement, keeping company with a couple giant rabbits.  If no one else got Easter chocolates delivered, it's because the Easter Bunny is here along with her floppy-eared assistant.

Gonna stay here until Tuesday, when I catch an earlier train into Kingston, where I will then house- and bunny-sit for a different buddy.  This guy, Bonkers, is a little smaller, though.  Not the Monsterous Beasts that are the Easter Bunnies.  :D

Don't have much time so will be short.  Decided (this morning aka 11:30 am) to go back to Kingston ON to finish up my thesis.  I leave on Sunday.

SO MUCH TO DO SO LITTLE TIME.

*headdesk*

Trying to get going on thesis writing again.  Chapter 3 is due on Monday, and it's not going to be hard to do since I've got 3/4 of it already written.  But does my brain want to cooperate?  No.  Of course not.  I really should've had a nap earlier, because I'm dragging right now.  Debating going and sleeping for a couple hours and trying later.  Bah!  BRAIN LISTEN TO ME WHEN I TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING.

In other, exciting news, I booked my ticket back to Manitoba!  I'll be taking the train - the Canadian, which goes from Toronto to Vancouver - on December 9th!  It's a 2 night trip, and we should be pulling into Winnipeg on December 11th at 8 am.  Apparently.  I've rarely seen this train on time, so I won't hold my breath.

I bit the bullet and paid the extra amount for an upper berth sleeper compartment.  For $200, I get a bed to sleep on during the 2 night trip, a semi-private room, access to the "fancy" cars - especially the one with the 360 panoramic view - and all my meals included in the price!  I think that's a pretty sweet deal, and will definitely make the trip more interesting and comfortable.  I've been wanting to take the train home since I moved to Kingston, so I'm glad I'm able to do it now.

I'm sad to be leaving Kingston, though.  It just hit me today that I'm moving out in less than 2 weeks, and that I'm leaving.  It feels like I just moved here.  I'm going to miss everyone here so much!

That soup I made the other day? Soooo good! And whoa man was there ever a lot of it. I had about 3 bowls of it the night I made it, a bowl yesterday, I'm heating up 1 or 2 bowls of it right now, and I still had enough left over to freeze a 650 g yoghurt container and a 500 g margarine container full!

Crock Pot + 1 hour of prep + 6 hours of hands-off cooking = MANY MANY TASTY MEALS

I've got to make soup more often.

In other news, I'm leaving for Vermont tomorrow for a 3 day field trip lead by my supervisor. Should be good times, and the trees will probably look amazing this time of the year!

Off on an adventure to Ottawa to play cheerleader for a friend in a beer pouring competition.  A Beer Pouring Competition.  How cool is that?  :D

I'm back in Kingston!  My luggage, meanwhile, is in Montreal Quebec, but should be back from its adventures tomorrow morning.  I'm not really complaining because this way they send my suitcase to my house via cab, and I didn't have to haul it home myself!  Oh my gosh heavy!

Happy 2010 everyone!
