Well shit.

You know you've been treating yourself poorly when you go for a 20 minute bike ride, and spend the next hour with an achy breath, and a weird weeze in your lungs for the rest of the evening.

I'm going to avoid riding my bike to work until it's less painful to ride.  But I'm going to try to keep riding, even if I have to reduce it a bit for the next while.

In knitty news, I managed to knit up 2 toques this weekend.  Didn't mean to do the second one - I finished up the hat I started a few days ago, and since I freed up the needles, I thought I'd cast on and putter away at the second one.  NOPE, it basically just fell off my needles today.  I wasn't supposed to have a day at home - I was supposed to be doing paperwork today.  But I really needed another day off, so instead I spent most of the day knitting and reading Laocoon's Children: The Fugitive from Azkaban.  Mostly I was looking for a specific scene, but got sucked into it.  Which is hilarious because I haven't read any of the other parts since they came out 15+ years ago.  The whole Stealing Harry series is so well done though, and Sam is rewriting the whole thing into a modern day original piece and I'm so stoked for that.  I hope he publishes it because I don't care what I have to do, I will be buying the thing.

But for now, I suppose I need to reread the whole thing from the start.  Darn.

Just put on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and I never realized that David Tennant (Barty Crouch Junior) and Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) were in this!  It'll be interesting to see them in these roles, especially Tennant.

I'm so excited to be watching these movies again, but it's making me want to read the books again.  So good!

Man, a sudden and horrible headache just attacked about 2 hours ago, and I've been barely able to move ever since.  It's probably from an over-abundance of emotion. :P

Finally found some of my roommates advil though, and am feeling much better!  SHH, don't tell her.  So Harry Potter marathon, maybe?  :)  I haven't seen the earlier movies in years, and haven't watched anything past Goblet of Fire, even though I've own them all forever.  Sort of lost interest after the last book came out.  Time to start watching them again, I think!

My readership is so small, it's hardly worth trying to spread the word on something amazing on it.  But I have to try anyways, because this is amazingly amazing!

It's a fanvid dedicated to fandom.  All fandom, any fandom, doesn't matter.  Check it out! This made me happy.  :)

Haven't seen the last episode of Sherlock yet, but just found out on twitter that...

spoiler under cut )

Now please upload the damn episode!

bare_bear: (If fire then exit)
Dammit!  Just saw the last episode for series 1 of Sherlock, and no fricken wonder people have been spazzing out for over a year!  So so glad I just got into this days before the next series starts.

ARGH CLIFFHANGERS.

Also, I don't normally do the crazy fangirl thing, but this iteration is TOTALLY Sherlock/John.  They are obviously meant for each other, it's sort of stupid.  LOVE IT!

Excuse me while I go re-watch this last episode.  Or find fanfic.

Just watched the first episode of Sherlock.  Uh, yes please, I'll have some more of that.

Actually, this came about because I just saw the second Sherlock Holmes movie last night at the theatre, and hell yes that was awesome.  Obviously I need to see the first movie now.  But since I forgot to go rent it, I figured I'd do the next best thing and watch the BBC TV series that I've heard people rave about.

I need to start listening to people when they tell me to see these things, because obviously I'm missing out.

Now bring on the fanfic!  And the original novels, because I also obviously need to re-read them too.

Seems to be a [personal profile] maderr night.  I'm listening to an audio version of Geniuses while sewing a nightgown.  Add a cuppa tea and some snacks, and it sounds like a fantastic night to me!

Need to find more audio copies of her fics, because they're perfect for listening while sewing.  Megan, force people to make more audio books!!!  lol

One of my methods of keeping myself focused on writing is to put on a movie I've seen a bajillion times and know inside and out as background noise. It's handy, despite sounding distracting, since I don't need to watch it to know what's going on, and doesn't keep me twitching to surf the internet while bored, especially since I can take a moment break and watch the show without getting hung up in it.

There are exactly 2 movies right now that works for this, and my favourite one is BBC Pride and Prejudice (yes, the one with Colin Firth). I LOVE this movie, and have watched the whole thing hundreds of times in the 6 or 7 years I've owned it.

In which I babble about what scenes I love in the movie and book, and something about Mary Bennett that I somehow missed all this time. :O )

DAMMIT, I don't have my Darcy icon uploaded anymore!. :(  Although I saw a great one floating around somewhere (maybe on Sam's Cafe?) of a cartoon drawing of Mary saying "I would infinitely prefer a book".  Maybe I should track it down and see if I can use it.  :D

ETA on Nov 28: FOUND IT!
[livejournal.com profile] redscharlach has made a ton of P&P icons, and similar ones for other fandoms, such as Doctor Who, Torchwood, Star Trek, Sherlock Holmes, and a bunch others.  Definitely check them out, they're adorable!

I tried to work on chapter 3: methodology (which is due on Monday) but I can't seem to string words together right now.

Instead, I'm going to make a cup of tea, stretch out on my couch, and read some Torchwood fanfiction.  Condition of Release is a fantastic take on cyberman and the Cyberwoman episode, written by [personal profile] sam_storyteller.  I read it last April when Sam first posted it, but it popped into my head the other day, out of nowhere, so I'm glad to have the chance to re-read it.  Man, I feel like I haven't chilled out like this in ages.

ETA: Now with bonus candle light.  :)

After coming down off of a really stressful couple of weeks, these comics made me lol forever.  Cripes, did I ever need that.  :D

Stupid Criminal Minds show, making me cry.

I just saw the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1, and all I can say is Holy Crap! I haven't even seen the previous movie, and now I think I need to see this one. While I'm glad they're dividing it up into two parts, it's going to suck waiting for part 2. And way to go Warner Brothers, for dragging out your Gold Hen for one more movie.

That said, I think it's time for a HP marathon.
