I think I just bought a car.

Well, will be buying a car tomorrow.  My brother, who is the best brother in the world, decided to help me purchase one for my move to the Yukon.  It's a loan, of course, and once I'm back on my feet I'll pay him back, but this was a god-send and I appreciate it so much.

So anyways, we were poking around kijiji today and found a few ads we were interested in.  Our requirements was a car with low(-ish) mileage, safetied, and around $1500.  The car we found?  130 000 km, red, and...an expired safety.  BUT, it just expired, is in really good shape, and was listed for $800.  I KNOW RIGHT?!  My brother came with and basically asked all the questions and crawled around in and under the car.  We're pretty sure it's in good enough shape to pass a safety inspection, unless there's something wrong with the brake or fuel line.  It's pretty bare bones, and has a bit of surface rust (that my brother can repair himself), but it starts well and runs smoothly and I THINK I JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST CAR!!!

Oh yeah, I'm 31 years old and only just doing what every 16 year old has done.

Now let's just hope that she doesn't sell it out from under me.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

You know, I really need to stop posting my plans for the day, because I never listen to myself.

After writing my last post, I read an entry by [personal profile] copperbadge about how he actively works at not being a shut-in.  He goes on all sorts of adventures, and I'm always amused/jealous of his experiences.  And then I realized how much of a shut-in I'm becoming.  So instead of spending the day inside sewing, I hiked down to the Mulvey Flea Market to check out their treasures.

I pass this place every single day on my way to/from work, and I always tell myself I'll go there someday.  That day was (finally) today!  I love digging through places like this.  It's like a treasure hunt!  And boy did I find some treasure.

Will probably do a post on Sewing on Pins about my treasures, along with my newly re-arranged living room (finally got my old couch sold and taken out of my place, so yay room again!), because the place is looking so awesome now.  Still needs work, but it's coming along.  :)

Anywho, off to sew!

I just bought a rug.  It's pretty, burgundy with blue and cream and green flowers around the edge and middle, with tassels on either end.  The tassels may have been what won me over.  It's lovely, and didn't cost me much money (yay kijiji!).  I'm kind of hoping it's magical and I can ride it to work on nice days!

Seriously, I hope so badly that I get this apartment.  The more I think of it, the more I want it, and I can barely remember the other place anymore.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!  I wanna move next weekend!  :D

One bite at a time.

Got the section I sent to the Super back this evening, but I can't bring myself to look at it.  I'll deal with it tomorrow when I'm feeling less fragile about the whole thing.  For now, off to make a cup of tea and do a bit more writing.

Cripes, I think "one bite at a time" is going to become my new mantra.  That, and "just keep swimming".  Oh Dory, you are my hero.  <3

In other news, I just stumbled across a new webcomic tonight that I really like, called The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal.  Looks sweet, the artwork is amazing, and I like the characters a lot.  From what I've read throughout the page, it looks like the characters - and the story - will have quite a bit of depth, which I appreciate in a webcomic like this.  Can't wait to see where it goes.

In the span of a single day, Amal calls off his arranged marriage, comes out to his conservative parents, promptly gets disowned, goes on a bender... and wakes up the next morning to find TJ, a lanky, dreadlocked vagrant, frying eggs and singing Paul Simon in his kitchen.

TJ claims that the two have made a drunken pact to drive all the way from Berkeley to Providence. As it happens, Amal promised his sister he'd be there for her graduation from Brown University. And TJ, well... TJ has his own reasons.

The agreement is simple: Amal does the driving; TJ pays the way - but a 3500 mile journey leaves plenty of time for things to get complicated.

Look at my treasure find!  :D  I'm absolutely delighted with it!  Plus, $40.  How can I go wrong?  (And it rides well, so there)
