Deadlines deadlines deadlines
Aug. 20th, 2010 08:07 pmAfter days of fighting with it, I think I've worked out how to work one of the computer programs I have to use for data analysis for the Thesis. Maybe. I hope. Stupid PHREEQC. And it's the easier one of the bunch, too. *facepalm*
BUT at least I've done what I can. :D
In other news, I'm a week and a half away from the deadline for the wardrobe contest I joined. EEP! I have 2 bottoms (a pair of pants and a tight tight tight denim pencil skirt) started, 1 complete top, and a new topper to finish. I had a cardigan topper finished, but it's a disaster. So I need to come up with something else. I'm thinking of a jacket, possibly the one below (without the ties), but I'm nor sure yet.

Not the dress, though, because that would be an absolute disaster for my body type. :)
Tonight, I'm going to chill out, watch tv or maybe some more Merlin or White Collar, and work on the top, a simple knit t-shirt. And then spend the entire weekend sewing because OMG A WEEK AND A HALF!

Busy weekend off!
Jul. 17th, 2010 06:20 pmAfter how many months of floundering and panicking about my thesis, I think I've worked out a battle plan, and I now feel like this is finally doable. Thank God.
But because I've been stressing myself out about this for ages now, and I need a bit of time to regroup, I've decided to give myself the weekend off. YAY!
So today I've mostly been just straightening up my apartment and finishing off a sewing project, a short sleeved blouse using New Look 6407. I even managed to get some pictures of it outside in the sun before a wicked storm blew through Kingston.
( Picture behind the cut )
In you're interested in more pictures, you can check out my sewing blog.
I think I'm going to go bake a coffee cake and make a cup of coffee before sitting down and watch an episode or two of Project Runway season 4. Maybe I'll even start cutting out pieces for a second blouse in another fabric.
Tomorrow may be some of the same. :) Maybe I'll even sleep in! Or at least, more so than normal.

WHEEEEEEEE!
Jun. 5th, 2010 02:58 amI GOT MY FIRST ARTICLE OF CLOTHING DONE FOR THE WARDROBE CONTEST! It may be 3 am, but I don't care because I got 1/10 pieces done! :D
*cackles*
Pics to come tomorrow. Today? Later, anyways.
In other, not entirely unrelated news, I got about 6 pages of actual thesis writing done today. *GLEEEE* See, my theory is that this wardrobe contest is actually going to motivate me to work on my thesis. Because I only have 3 months to finish the 10 pieces of clothing, by September 1. That means that September, my targeted end month, IS ONLY 3 MONTHS AWAY OMG!!! I didn't really comprehend how little time I have left until this contest.
Thus, in conclusion, I propose that sewing an entire wardrobe will also mean completing my thesis!
:D

Wardrobe Contest 2010
Jun. 3rd, 2010 09:00 pmDespite trying to finish a M.Sc. thesis, I decided to make things even harder on myself and sign up for a contest. But not any contest, no, I've signed up for a contest where we're supposed to sew a 10 piece coordinating wardrobe for ourselves by September 1, hosted by Pattern Review (sewing.patternreview.com/ because the linky thing isn't working). Don't ask me what I was thinking, I haven't figured that out yet.
The point is to make 4 tops, 4 bottoms, 1 topper (jacket, cardigan, etc), and one free item of your choice that all coordinates together, so that you're never stuck staring into a full closet thinking that nothing goes together. And hey, even if I don't finish (because I guess the thesis takes priority *rolls eyes*), I'll still have some beautiful pieces (I hope!), and a much better understanding of how to coordinate clothing! :D
I've created a storyboard containing the patterns and fabrics I plan to use. Well, some of them, anyways. I haven't quite worked it all out yet, but I figure I've got 3 months to work out the kinks. :)
( Storyboard behind the cut to save your flist... )
Wish me luck!
(omgwhatamidoing??!)
