FABRIC-TASTIC!

bare_bearHit the jackpot at the Thrift Store today for fabric! Got several great pieces that I'm excited to use, including a blue corduroy with small white flowers printed on it for a skirt, and a puffy black with matte circles and batting quilted on the back that I'll either make into another skirt or possibly a bag.
Oh man, I don't need any more projects! :D But I love creating stuff (especially my own clothes!), and it makes for a nice break from my thesis.
My current project is a cape mod, kind of like a jacket with no sleeves (no, it's not a super hero cape). The outter fabric is a brown and beige tweed-like knit, while the lining is an ivory and pink floral brocade. I really love it, except that my next step is making 3 buttons holes, and needless to say, I'm very nervous. I've never made one before, and it'll be using the new (aka 1970's era) Singer I just got last week that I've never used. Eep!
I can't wait until it's done. I'm ridiculously proud of it, even if the shoulders are a little wide. Maybe I'll try fixing that before finishing off the hem. It'll be fun to show it off, an then tell people that I made it! :D
