Job interview went well. Really well.
I think.
I was my usual awkward self, and I was sort of expecting a firing squad of questions, when it was really just them reviewing my resume and asking questions like "do you mind traveling for field work?", "we do sampling 12 months a year, do you have a problem with that? (i.e. OMG SOIL SAMPLING IN -40C TEMPS? Yes please!)", and "yeah, do you mind if we move you into the office eventually to do interpretation and report writing? We'll probably fast-track you into a scientist position". Um...hmm. Other than the awkwardness, I'm pretty confident with how that went.
When I handed them my references and explained a few things (thesis supervisor on sabbatical and about to leave for Italy, so she prefers email; I was having trouble contacting one of my refs, but here's a back-up, etc.), they told me that they'd probably just call one. And then when I mentioned that I knew one of their employees (saw his name on the employee list in the lobby), they said all cheerily "oh, we could just use him as a reference!", and I was all "uh...he was a grad student when I was an undergrad...we barely knew each other " and secretly thinking (after my own graduate experiences) that he probably thought I was less than useless.
I have a suspicion that I've got the job. They were super impressed and pleased with my education and experiences, even despite my heavily mining background (they're in oil and gas). And I'll admit, I'm impressed with the company.
Guess I'll find out in the next week or so. *crosses fingers*
If nothing else, I feel confident that I looked good. Wore a dress I'd made ages ago, and finished hemming at 12:45 am last night. Now I'm going to go unwind and sew. I'm working on making a wardrobe that would work in a slightly on the more casual side office (my interviewers were both in jeans). I love my industry! :D
/babble.
