Tasty tasty artichoke
Mar. 9th, 2010 07:48 pmWell that was interesting.
I ran to the grocery to pick up avocado, and came back with a lot more stuff, including an artichoke. (I do that a lot) I've never tried an artichoke before.
So of course I went to google, and found this article: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/how_to_cook_and_eat_an_artichoke/
SO EASY AND SO TASTY! Just boil/steam for about a half-hour, then pull off the leaves, dip in melted butter or a sauce, and eat the soft part at the base of the leaf. I boiled it, since I don't have any way of steaming it, but I think I'd recommend steaming it. I burnt my fingers on some of the hot water that got caught up inside the artichoke. I really liked the sauce recommended on the webpage, mixing some balsamic vinegar into mayo.
Definitely will be trying this again!
Now I'm off to make avocado-filled rice balls for my actual dinner. :) Mmm..
