Inspirations Abound
Oh man, I haven't posted on here in a while. I blame my thesis. And sewing. Both of which I've been decently productive on lately. If you're interested in some of the projects I've been tackling lately, check out my blog, Sewing on Pins. Or you know, not. :)
My thesis, on the other hand, has been both frustrating and illuminating the last week or so. I've been so bogged down in the details, the other day I gave up and did an art project.

That's a marker drawing of the wetland I'm studying, as well as tabbies with the contaminant concentrations in the wetland. Don't worry too much about the details. THE AMAZING PART IS...it's shown me trends in my data that I just couldn't "see" in spreadsheets of data. When I brought it along to a meeting with my supervisor (she thought it was great, btw) and basically gave her the run down of what's going on and the preliminary conclusions I made of what's going on, she told me that, well, there's the basic answers to my thesis questions. Oh sure, I have to back this all up and go into much more detail (the thesis committee and government department I'm working for isn't going to like a marker drawing for my final conclusions!), but these were my basic conclusions.
Our meeting was so illuminating and so helpful because I've been too immersed and bogged down by the data, I couldn't see the big picture. So now the fire has been rekindled and I'm anxious to get going on this again.
Well, mostly. After submitting an abstract for a conference this fall, my brain has shut down and declared me finished for the day. I think I'll listen to it and get a good start tomorrow on some of my final data analysis.
