In 200 words or less AND using a different written genre (e.g. letter to self,
story, poem, post card, a pitch), explain what your thesis is about. Prepare to
present to someone else.

Research Objectives Haiku:

In this northern lake
as ice melts, arsenic seeps
- does the wetland clean?

Well, it is definitely less than 200 words, and a different written genre (unless your thesis is also a haiku?). So yes, you have done what they asked you to do. If they don't like it perhaps they should have given a word minimum.

Now, prepare to present it.

That is all very true. It's an optional assignment, so better than nothing, eh? But they do appreciate creativity, and this basically describes my thesis, so huzzah! :D
